A Welcome from the High School Principal

I would like to offer a warm welcome to the entire
high school community of the American School Kuwait as
we enter the new school year. A special greeting
goes out to the senior class, the class of 2008, as
they enter the final year of their high school
careers and also to our new ninth grade class, the
class of 2011, as they embark on what is sure to be
an exciting, challenging and fun-filled four years.
Since I am new I would like to also send out a warm
welcome to each of the new students and high school
faculty members who have joined us this year. We
look forward to their many contributions.
ASK’s high school program provides a solid college
preparatory program in which students are encouraged
and challenged to grow academically and personally.
Students select courses from a variety of academic
disciplines including English, Social Studies,
Mathematics, Science, Foreign Language and Religion
(Islam), Social Sciences, Art, Music, Technology,
Physical Education and Health.
Advanced Placement
Fourteen “Advanced Placement” courses are available
at ASK offering students the opportunity to gain
American college credits while in high school in the
following subjects: English, Spanish, French,
Chemistry, Biology, Physics, Computer Science,
Calculus, Statistics, American and World History,
Studio Art and Economics.
Extra Curricular
Although academics will consume a major part of
his/her time, we encourage each student to get
involved in the school community: join one of the
many after-school clubs; sing in one of our choirs
or play in the band; participate in drama, a school
sport or come as a spectator and help cheer our
teams on to victory.
We hope that each of our students takes the
opportunity to learn first-hand about one of the 30
nationalities and cultures represented within the
school. By being an active member in the school
community and in participating in one or more of our
many activities, students enrich their lives and the
lives of those around them.
Sincerely,
Glenn E. Hooper
