Welcome from the Director of Technology
If there's one thing that is in agreement among
today's educational experts, it is that our
educational system must produce technologically capable
students. The ASK Technology department is
committed to making this happen.
In addition to the standard curriculum of technology
competence, we are leading our students into the
technological future using industry standard
software such as Adobe Photoshop, Macromedia
Flash, Sony Acid and Microsoft Office.
Our students will also begin making use of the
cutting edge Really Simple Syndication (RSS)
to create dynamic audio and video Podcasts available
to anyone on the internet.
To live, learn, and work successfully in an
increasingly complex and information-rich society,
students must be able to use technology effectively.
Within an effective educational setting, technology
can enable students to become:
-
Capable information technology users
-
Information seekers, analyzers, and
evaluators
-
Problem solvers and decision makers
-
Creative and effective users of
productivity tools
-
Communicators, collaborators,
publishers, and producers
-
Informed, responsible, and contributing
citizens

The American School of Kuwait's Technology
Department has chosen to align itself with the
National Educational Technology Standards Project
(NETS). A major component of the NETS Project
is the development of a general set of profiles
describing technology-literate students at key
developmental points in their pre-college education.
These profiles reflect the underlying assumption
that all students should have the opportunity to
develop technology skills that support learning,
personal productivity, decision making, and daily
life. These profiles and associated standards
provide a framework for preparing students to be
lifelong learners who make informed decisions about
the role of technology in their lives.
