Arabic

The main goal of the Arabic language program is to provide students with fundamental knowledge, information, and skills that can be used to provide a strong base with which students can communicate effectively in Arabic. The Arabic language program encompasses reading, handwriting, spelling, grammar, comprehension, dictation, conversation, listening, composition, calligraphy and the study of literature.

Arabic as a Foreign Language (AFL)

The main goal for students in grades three through five is to be introduced to the Arabic language and culture at the elementary level. This will enable students to increase their Arabic vocabulary and cultural awareness. The Arabic language program for expatriate students encompasses reading, handwriting, spelling, and conversational use of the language.

Art

Children from KG 2 - Fifth Grade will be able to experience and explore the world of art through multi-media. Children learn to express themselves freely through color, line, shape, form, texture, and space. They will be introduced to a variety of famous artists and their works. Each will try their "hand" at the special techniques used by those artists.

Students are challenged with a wide array of materials. Crayon, finger-paints, markers, pastels, watercolor, tempera, printing, bas-relief foil art, collages, clay, and fiber arts will appeal to the enthusiastic artists within your child.

Life in Kuwait adds a new and exciting dimension to the arts. The Arab architecture and culture is discussed and is a popular theme in many of the art projects.

Computers

Our primary objective is to enable students to access, process, and communicate information and knowledge utilizing technology. A comprehensive Elementary Technology Program that weaves knowledge, learning and technology with all core subjects is emphasized. We believe our program has a positive impact on our students in both personal and educational growth.

Music

The Music program provides students from KG 2 to Fifth Grades an opportunity to explore music through singing, movement, playing instruments, listening and creating. The basic music elements are taught using a variety of musical sources and musical skills.

The program is designed to establish a solid musical background and an appreciation for different styles and forms of music. There is a focus on learning to play the recorder in the Fourth Grade leading into a strong instrumental band program and choral program beginning in the fifth grade.

The Music program strives to develop listening skills and performance skills both individually and as part of an ensemble. The students are expected to demonstrate those skills as a performer as well as an audience member.

Physical Education

The Physical Education Department aims to help the child develop and maintain an optimum level of health and well-being, to provide opportunities for the child to enhance his/her level of physical growth and development, to help the child develop effective body management and useful physical skills, to help the child understand the concepts relating to effective and efficient movement, to acquire the knowledge and skills necessary to maintain an active lifestyle, to experience enjoyment through play, develop positive personal and social development and provide opportunities for every child to develop a positive self-image.

Religion

The main goal of Religion (taught in Arabic) and Special Religion (taught in English) is to enable students to have a good knowledge of the Holy Quran and holy sayings of Prophet Mohammed (P.B.U.H.).

These programs encompass the study of the Holy Quran, Hadeeth (teaching and instructions), worshipping, Prophet Mohammed's life, and religious stories. During these studies, the concept of morality and values in Islam will be stressed. Religion is taught in Arabic and special religion is taught in English.

Science

The students in grades 1 through 5 visit the Science Lab once a week. The students participate in hands-on activity based Science. The activities are designed to support the learning that takes place supplemented in the Science Lab and in the regular classroom. Active participation and cooperation with group partners are the keys to success in the Science Lab.
