A Welcome from the
Elementary School Principal
Marhaba!
Welcome to the American School of Kuwait website.
Our elementary pages will provide you the
opportunity to learn about our very unique oasis in
the desert, a place where over 650 students, 475
families, and over 85 staff members call home.
A place where our students are challenged to think
critically, act with integrity, and strive for
excellence.
I am honored to be the Elementary School Principal
for this academic year. Every day I have the
opportunity to watch our children develop as
learners, grow as unique individuals, and foster
good work habits and social skills which enable our
children to develop and grow. It is our job in
the Elementary School to provide our students with
the life lessons that will equip them to excel in
the twenty-first century.
It is our priority to "feed the heart...to teach the
mind." By fostering a positive learning environment
here in the Elementary School, our students want to
come to school to learn, to laugh, and to care about
others and the world they live in. Our dynamic
faculty makes special contributions to each child's
education and their unique understanding of the
world in which they live. Our teachers are
dedicated and committed to providing their students
with the best American education Kuwait has to
offer.
Our rigorous curriculum based on American
educational standards that not only encompass the
typical academic areas but places a strong emphasis
on the arts. Our rich curriculum coupled with
current effective instructional practices and
resources maximize student learning. We also
offer an extensive after school program, leadership
opportunities for our aspiring leaders and a Hand
in Hand Mentoring program which gives our
students a chance to learn with a High School
student.
We hope that the elementary pages on the website
will give you a glimpse into our lives at school.
The many links will give you the opportunity to
discover more about student learning, special
events, and activities. The "This Week at ASK"
link is a weekly update of elementary happenings
including photos and important dates.
Additionally, our elementary families receive
curriculum and class updates in our class
newsletters, Falcon Flyer, and on-going
parent-teacher dialogue. It is important to
your child's education that we foster this vital
partnership between home and school.
On behalf of our new Administrative Team, Ted
Mockrish, Jane Macmillan, and Erin Ellis, we look
