A Welcome from the
Early Childhood Principal
Welcome to the Early Childhood Program at the
American School of Kuwait. My name is Ted
Mockrish. While I am new to the position of
Early Childhood Principal, I am no stranger here at
ASK! From 2004-2006 I taught in Grade 1, and
last year served as the Elementary School IT
Teacher, and as an administrative intern. I
also have had the pleasure of working with 3,4, and
5-year-olds in Taiwan and in New York City. I
am really happy to be working with all of our new
learners this coming year. It will be a
wonderful year I am sure.
I personally believe that the early years, from ages
3 to 7, are the most critical years of learning for
any child. During this time each child forms
his or her own ideas, passion, and way of learning.
It is am important time for us, as educators and
parents, to give our children every opportunity to
discover who they are, what kind of learner they
are, and help them discover their life-long love for
learning.
Discovery, problem solving and a thirst for
understanding all begin in early childhood,
Being a life-long learner is something that can be
taught especially during these early years.
Our teachers and staff place great importance on not
only what your child will learn, but also how they
will learn it. Developing each child's passion
and joy for learning and appreciation of their
unique way of learning is at the heart of how we
teach in our Early Childhood Program at ASK.
Our Early Childhood Teachers and Assistants are an
enthusiastic, dedicated, and informed team who
continue to strive for excellence each year. I
am in awe of the dedication and effort these
teachers put into their classrooms and into their
own professional development to become even better
teachers. We are lucky to have such a
wonderful staff! It is an honor for me to work
with such dedicated people.
We look forward to a wonderful year of learning with
your children and your family.
