A Welcome Message for the Activities Director
American School of Kuwait students annually benefit
from the school's large and diverse co-curricular
activities program. This program provides all ASK
students with opportunities to learn something
rarely available in the classroom situation. Rewards
are measured in different ways by each individual,
ranging from simply participating in a club or
intramural activity, to earning a spot on the first
team , winning first place in a tournament or meet,
excelling in the performing arts or providing a
student service through one of ASK's service
organization's.
ASK's Elementary School, Middle School and High
School programs, consisting of various activities of
interest offered by ASK faculty members, are
available to all ASK students. However in order to
qualify for one of the approximately 20 school trips
abroad sponsored by ASK each year, students are
required to participate in a selection process that
will deny involvement to those students who fail to
meet the established standards.
Most of ASK's school trips fall under the auspices
of EMAC (Eastern Mediterranean Activities
Conference), a conference in which the American
School of Kuwait was a founding member in 1980.
Currently there are 17 member schools from eleven
countries: Kuwait, Jordan, Greece, Cyprus, U.A.E,
Egypt, Syria, Qatar, Lebanon, Bahrain and Oman. At
least twice each year, the ASK community benefits
from the opportunity to host an EMAC event, when
member schools visit Kuwait, and the American School
of Kuwait.
In addition to EMAC, ASK is also a member of the
KSAA (Kuwait Schools Activities Association).
Currently there are six member schools in this
Association, which provides valuable opportunities
for co-curricular activities exchanges on a local
level.
Although ASK's co-curricular activities program is
available to ASK students only, there are a number
of community activities that take place on or near
the ASK campus, that are also available to Non ASK
students.
Thank you.
