Professional Development at ASK

We, at ASK, value our teachers' expertise and knowledge, but understand, also, that teachers should remain learners throughout their lives. To do so, opportunities for professional growth and development need to be readily available. This statement, in itself, can be problematic in overseas settings. While the world of internet allows many of us to pursue further study, and opens a world of information and material through the use of technological links, there are many other avenues that are difficult to pursue in "non-western" settings. At ASK we are well aware of our teachers needs, along with what is, or is not, readily accessible in this region. In an effort to support and nurture our teachers ASK is striving to gain recognition as a leader for Professional Development in the local area, and indeed, within the region.

In an attempt to support our teachers, enable their continuous professional growth, and also foster and improve student learning within the school, several elements of an all- encompassing Professional Development program have been initiated and developed over the past two years. We continue on this path - attempting to support further study, and to provide opportunities not normally available in the area.

Our Professional Development Program is being developed within the following areas:

  • Professional Development Support and Guidance
  • Teacher Evaluation
  • Teacher Mentoring
